Maldives Travel

Escape to a spa resort on an island paradise, where you can snorkel in shimmering waters, learn to cook Maldivian food & more!

Enjoy fun in the sun at a secluded island paradise on this Platinum DreamTrip to the Republic of Maldives. Adventure and relaxation await you at this family-friendly hideaway in the Indian Ocean. If you desire, you can take to the crystal-clear waters for snorkeling and marvel at the marine life you encounter. During your first official outing, you’ll learn to prepare a classic Maldivian dish in a cooking class at the resort, and then head out to sea again in search of dolphins.

During your leisure time, you can take advantage of the resort’s many offerings. Just beyond the door of your villa, you can bask in the beauty of the attached private garden area, complete with a pool. Or laze on the white-sand beach shaded by palm trees, and then cool off with a refreshing dip in the ocean. Abundant activities will keep everyone entertained. You can also try your hand at canoeing, wakeboarding, waterskiing, banana boating, windsurfing and catamaran sailing (some activities may be at an additional fee). What we love:
• The resort’s award-winning spa offers a variety of body treatments, including massages and facials.
• Cowry shells were once used as currency in the Maldives and can be found on some of their money today.
• The welcome dinner is a great way to meet your fellow DreamTrippers before your exciting Maldivian adventure begins.

The Republic of Maldives is a group of more than 1,000 coral islands off the southern tip of India, an archipelago formed from an enormous underwater mountain range, the Chagos-Laccadive Ridge. Maldives is deemed the lowest country in the world, with its highest elevation no more than 6 feet (1.82 meters) above sea level.

Other than the capital city Male and the resort islands, tourists are not advised to visit other parts of the Maldives, as many of the other islands are uninhabitable. However, the lure of underwater beauty, year-round sunshine, warm ocean waters and white-sand beaches ensure that city hotels and private hideaways are brimming with guests. Although Male is only 2 square miles (5.2 square kilometers) in size, the bustling capital features office buildings, paved streets, and residential and commercial districts. Popular attractions include fish and fruit markets, the National Museum, Old Friday Mosque and the official residence of the President.
