Your next few days include visits to the Snaefellsnes peninsula and village of Borgarnes, whale-watching at Faxafloi Bay, and an excursion to the Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa at the Blue Lagoon Resort. The adventures continue with a fun South Shore excursion to see the impressive Eyjafjallajokull volcano as well as the Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls. Visit the Skogar Museum and venture to the Vatnajökull glacier in Skaftafell National Park the next day. Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon is also waiting to be explored before you see the iconic Reynisfjara Beach with its famous black sands. On the way back to the airport, your visit to the town of Vik includes a stop at the wool shop — perfect for finding souvenirs before you return home.

• Eyjafjallajokull is an active stratovolcano entirely shrouded by a massive ice cap and is thought to be geologically related to a much more powerful subglacial volcano known as Katla.
• Walk on the black sands of Reynisfjara Beach on Dyrholaey Cape and discover unique Reynisdrangar basalt sea formations on the journey back to Reykjavik.
• For the most part, Icelandic is unchanged from the original ancient Norse language. This means ancient texts are read with ease.
